As soon as you can recognise something you can use all the information you already have about it

As soon as you recognise something, you may know what to do about it or at least you can use all you already know about it.

So it is worth making an effort to see if the different information you have about something adds up to something you recognise.

Do I recognise this?

If the answer is NO then you can do three things:
